For those of you who play Fortnite on PlayStation and was hoping to be able and pick up and play on your Nintendo Switch as well, are going to be in for a disappointment.
Fortnite launched today for the Nintendo Switch, and included cross-play support for everything but the PlayStation 4. Recently discovered, a major annoyance when logging in: if your account was used on a PS4, they can’t access the Switch version at all.
Even worse, since Sony insists that you can’t undo linking accounts, you’ll have to create a new account just to play on the Switch. The Fortnite account tracks seasonal progression, DLC purchases, and in-game friends, but enforces certain limitations for cross-play purposes. (Thanks Eurogamer.)
Perhaps Sony and Epic Games can find a solution, but considering the Switch version already has an in-game warning notice, we can assume those negotiations already failed. We’ll keep you posted on further developments.
